Description
The estate is in heart of Pays de Retz, between Nantes and Pornic
(20 km each). We benefit of the softness of Atlantic Ocean and various terroirs, so the grapes are naturly ripe and healthy. We work on 22 ha, divided by the numerous grape varieties and kind of soils of the estate.
Historical
Since 2000, the estate owns to Emmanuel and Laurnet GUITTENY, two cousines who have perpetuated the familial estate. They bring recent technics and a know how at traditional methods, and have developped quality of the wines…
The Terroir
The climate is oceanic, so the vines benefit of tit softness, but the lake of Grandlieu protect the vineyard from rains and hail.
Our terroirs are various , and we have adaptated the varieties on them taking note of their potentiality:
. The gravely soil where the ground is fully covered with little white stones, thereby reverberation of heat and light on the grapes for a perfect maturity.
• The schist, leaving the roots go deeper, following the flaws of the rock to recover the minerals and trace elements.
• The gneiss, bringing a mineral wealth to original wines
• The clay soils, interesting for the rapid maturation of grapes, and vigorous varieties.
The environment
We are working in reasoned fight, in order to minimize the impact of chemicals on the environment, and we use the maximum natural products. We also prefer methods for harmonious environment; natural grass and manual works
In addition, we have a sewage plant to regulate the important releases of organic matters during harvests We also recycle all our wastes.
In addition to the respect for consumers, we want to act effectively for the preservation of our environment
The vinifications and rearing wines
The grapes are harvested by hand or by machine, following ages of the vine. The white grapes are pressed with a pneumatic press; it follows a cold settling, to separate wine and deposit from the must.
The fermentations are made in stainless steel vats around 16-17°C. There may be subsequently a second fermentation, which gives less acidity in wine. All the whites are aged on their lees, to have more aromas and stability..
The vinifications in rosé are broadly the same as for whites, apart from the grapes macerate a little to extract colour.
The red grapes are put in tank of maceration from 5 to 18 days following the varieties and the kind of wines. We control the density and temperature every day, and once the maceration finished, we separate the free-runwine and the wine press releases.
The aging are made in tanks in our conditioning cellar, till filtrations and bottling in Mars.
